The South Peninsula of Cape Town is generally regarded as the area south of Muizenberg on the Indian Ocean and Noordhoek on the Atlantic Ocean, all the way to Cape Point. Until recently quite rural, the population of the area is growing quickly as new coastal developments proliferate and larger plots are subdivided to provide more compact housing, making property for sale in Cape Towns Southern Peninsula more affordable as far as Cape Town prices go, while still offering all the benefits of living in the Cape. It includes Capri Village, Clovelly, Fish Hoek, Glencairn, Kalk Bay, Kommetjie, Masiphumelele, Noordhoek, Muizenberg, Ocean View, Scarborough, Simon's Town, St James, Sunnydale, and Sun Valley.

Not many communities can boast that their neighbour is a World Heritage Site. Most suburbs in this area lie adjacent to the Table Mountain National Park and visitors can enjoy the biodiversity that it and Cape Town has to offer.

Looking south from the Constantia-berg and the Muizenberg mountains, one can see the seaside suburbs that hug the shores of False Bay, from Muizenberg through Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek and Simon's Town all the way to Cape Point. Indonesian, Xhosa, Dutch and British influence can be seen in many of the buildings around the cape as well as in the basic customs and local folklore. Stories passed down through the generations tell of fishing, whaling, lighthouses, shipwrecks, naval battles and grand homes that once belonged to the mining magnates of Johannesburg.

The “historic mile” of Muizenberg boasts some magnificent homes, Kalk Bay’s collectables and relics speak volumes, and in Simon's Town, a number of museums give a fascinating insight into the navy town’s history. Boulders beach, with its African penguin colony. Spectacular drives like Chapman’s Peak, Ou Kaapse Weg and Constantia Nek allow for easy traversing of the Peninsula. Noordhoek, below Chapman’s Peak, has some splendid property for sale and a wonderful beach for walking and horse-riding.

Hout Bay, also on the Atlantic side of the Peninsula, is a thriving, cosmopolitan suburb, a favourite with tourists. Visitors can enjoy surfing, boating, kayaking, deep sea fishing, whale viewing and shark cage diving.
